My thrifty soul prevented me from just tossing it in the trash so on a whim, I posted an offer on a couple of the Ravelry group boards, including the one for fans of Maggie's work. Which is where I quickly received a response.
So I was able to trade a book I absolutely did not want for this:
Mmmmm....pretty pretty! Blues, purples, a bit of grey - definitely my colors. I don't see how my partner in this trade could have done a better job of selecting something I'd like.
It's Zitron Trekking XXL, a sock yarn I've heard of but haven't tried yet. It's been on my list of yarns I'd like to try so I'm looking forward to finding a suitable pattern for it.

I bet we could figure out the actual probability by posting a poll on ravelry...
(I think this comment makes it pretty obvious that I'm studying statistics more than I'm knitting now. Gahhhh)
So, what is that (outside of a Texas Instrument gadget) and how does it relate to yarn gauge, yarn yardage or yarn weight?
I'm just josh'n on the yarn applicability. Unless you could sell me on why I need it for yarn purposes, LOL. Then I'd be all over it!
(I'm not studying statistics, quantum theory, or Zimmermanism, although Zimmermanism does intrigue me
What a great swap. I agree that the colors are so you, girl. Can't wait to see what you do with it. xxoo
I'm knitting with that stuff right now, except in an orangey color, and it's magnificent.
OH, how pretty!!! I love the blues with the purples. A very satisfactory trade, indeed! I am not, however, going to be the one who trades for that calculator. It has way too many buttons!!!
