Designer Wooly Wormhead as taken on the formidable job of compiling a new, more accurate version of standard hat sizing. There are websites out there that give examples of what small, medium, or large sizes should be, but many knitters (and crocheters) don't find them to be particularly accurate. I've personally knit a few hat patterns that left me scratching my head in wonderment at whether the designer perhaps thought "small" meant "baby" or "large" meant "if you were planning to felt it". So I can definitely support this particular endeavor!
But even if you don't knit or crochet, you might know someone who does. Someone who at this very moment may be crafting a hat for you. In which case - you certainly want to ensure that you get something that fits, don't you?
All it takes is a few minutes, a measuring tape, and a quick trip over here. Thanks!

What a wonderful idea. I, too, have problems with hats fitting just right. But, then again, I crochet tightly sometimes caused by stresses of the day. xxoo
I have an abnormally small head, so it's really helpful to learn what the "average" small, medium and larges are!
